57 percent of evangelical church attenders said they believe many religions can lead to eternal life, in conflict with traditional evangelical teaching.
In all, 70 percent of Americans with a religious affiliation shared that view, and 68 percent said there is more than one true way to interpret the teachings of their own religion.
Nearly across the board, the majority of religious Americans believe many religions can lead to eternal life: mainline Protestants (83 percent), members of historic black Protestant churches (59 percent), Roman Catholics (79 percent), Jews (82 percent) and Muslims (56 percent).
Only six in 10 Catholics described God as "a person with whom people can have a relationship" — which the church teaches — while three in 10 described God as an "impersonal force."
I find it interesting that 6 in 10 Catholics say they believe that God is relational... yet if they truly had relationship with Him, then 79% of them would not be saying that there is more than one way to have eternal life.
Jesus help us.
I think we need to stop holding on to a pipe dream that we're a "Christian nation" and start preaching the Gospel and living the Gospel like we're trying to reach an unreached people group.
At least 17 students are now pregnant and it's possible that they all made a pact together to get pregnant. The amount of teens that were pregnant in the same school this time last year: 3.
My heart is seriously broken. Not because of their sin, but because of their lack of life and understanding. Because Jesus has such an incredible destiny for these girls lives, yet they chose to do things that is going to greatly change their lives. They probably didn't even think about the baby that they were conceiving... would they have a father...?
The secularists and doctors are blaming the school board for not allowing the school docs to hand out birth control.
Birth control is not the answer.
I'm sure there will be religious people screaming "why can't you just keep your pants on?" They'll be pushing for abstinence campaigns and rallies that will garner a butt-load of commitments, but will lack a long-term desire to see it through.
Abstinence in itself is not the answer.
We could even take it a step further and create some type of law that would punish the male who inpregnated this young ladies, but that wouldn't last long...
Legislating morality is not the answer.
The only answer is relationship with Jesus.
It's not about moral standards, or moral laws, or moral conduct, it's about living a life in all it's fullness with the Creator of the Universe.
I'm tired of Christians screaming about laws of morality... when they do nothing in living out their Christianity themselves... They think voting for a republican and banning gay marriage is their Christian duty. I think legislating morality is just an excuse for Christians to pass off what is our responsibility in the first place...
We're trying to hold on to a "christianized" nation... we're trying to hold on to "good, family values" when we've lost the souls in the process...
Hmmmm. Sounds to me like Jesus said something about that. What's the point of gaining the whole world but then losing our own soul?
Have we gotten so focused on the aspect of trying to stop people from sinning that we've forgotten about giving them true life?
The only answer is introducing this nation to life, and the One who IS life is Jesus. The solution is not religion. Not creating new laws of morality. Not finding new ways to get our teens to commit to not having sex... The solution is Jesus. Because once people truly fall in love with Jesus and begin living His desires for their lives, then the issue of morality will be happenstance.
Again, I'm not talking about religion. Religion, in America, has put us in the position we're in.
I'm talking about relationship.
Because I love Jesus and I've given Him complete control of my life, I don't want to do the things that break His heart. I don't want to live a life that is not a life of sacrifice before Him.
I'm going to live the responsibility the LORD has placed on my life in helping resurrect a generation... and introducing them to Jesus, to relationship.
What are you doing? Stuffing religion down their throat. Handing them a condom? If you're doing that, the results are clear.
I can't wait to see what will happen when a generation becomes alive, awakens to their God-given destiny and starts living out a love-relationship with Jesus.
Man oh man.
