    Students and faculty at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary have heard about the school's new Wayne and LeAlice Dehoney Center for Urban Ministry. But many have not heard about the legacy of the center's namesake.

    According to their daughter, Kathy Evitts, knowing the Dehoney legacy will motivate students to work through the Dehoney Center to reach the world's cities for Christ.

  • Sunergos partners seek to bring Gospel light to coffee industry

  • Rec center gets new exercise equipment

    New weight machines in the Health and Recreation Center will provide an opportunity for healthier and more effective exercise by students and faculty at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, according to Lee Sexton, supervisor of recreation and student activities.

    In October, the rec center replaced 19-year-old weight machines with 17 new Paramount machines. All the free weight benches were also replaced.

  • Ware becomes first SBTS faculty member to serve as president of ETS

    PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Bruce Ware this week became the first faculty member from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to serve as president of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS).

    Ware was elected vice president of ETS by a unanimous vote of fellow scholars at the 58th annual ETS meeting in Washington, D.C. in 2006. After one year of serving as vice president and one year as president-elect, Ware began his term as president during the 60th annual meeting of ETS this week at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence.

  • Kentucky Baptists resolve to protect the unborn

    Kentucky Baptists reaffirmed their desire to protect the lives of the unborn and committed to support the Southern Baptist Convention’s Crossover Louisville event through resolutions passed during the 171st annual meeting of the Kentucky Baptist Convention last week.

    Five resolutions were presented by Russell Moore, chairman of the KBC Committee on Resolutions and senior vice president of academic administration at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and approved by messengers during the Tuesday morning session of the Nov. 11 annual meeting at Immanuel Baptist Church.

  • Crossover Louisville presents witnessing opportunities for students

    In June students at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary will have the opportunity to participate in an event that resulted in more than 600 people trusting Christ as their Lord and Savior last year.

    As a part of the Crossover evangelism campaign preceding the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention in Louisville, students will be able to take the Gospel to the streets June 14-20 with Intentional Community Evangelism (ICE) teams coordinated through the North American Mission Board. The teams will canvass strategic neighborhoods and streets from morning until night, beginning evangelistic conversations.

  • Mission team trains Russian church planters

    Thanks to a mission team from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Boyce College, the Bashkortostan region of Russia has an increased passion for church planting.

    Bruce Carlton, associate professor of missions at Boyce, led five Boyce students and one Southern student on a trip to the city of Ufa this summer, where he conducted a training session for Russian church planters and evangelists at the invitation of the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Mission Board.
