World AIDS Day
>> 12/1/08
Welcome to "Lyrical Monday". This is a special post of Lyrical Monday as today is World AIDS Day. My heart breaks that this deadly disease is still spreading rampant not only in the United States but across the world. AIDS does not discriminate. AIDS affects people of every race, sex, age and economic status. This disease is a "global epidemic" which must be stopped.
According to Avert.org, "World AIDS Day was started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done." The website also states, "According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 33.2 million people living with HIV, including 2.5 million children. During 2007 some 2.5 million people became newly infected with the virus. Around half of all people who become infected with HIV do so before they are 25 and are killed by AIDS before they are 35."
(Avert.org. 1 December, 2008. "World AIDS Day". Retrieved from http://www.avert.org/worldaid.htm.)
We must pray that a cure is found which will stop this deadly disease. We must pray for those who have HIV/AIDS. So, I am asking everyone who reads this blog to pray that a cure be found for this deadly disease. Pray for the men, women and children which have HIV/AIDS. Pray for their families. Those whom have HIV/AIDS are children of God as well.
I would like to post the lyrics to a song which Michael Jackson wrote in memory of Ryan White. Ryan White died of AIDS on April 8th, 1990. I would like to dedicate this song to the millions and millions of families and friends whom have lost loved ones to this deadly disease. God bless all of you.
GONE TO SOON
by Michael Jackson
Like A Comet
Blazin' 'Cross The Evening Sky
Gone Too Soon
Like A Rainbow
Fading In The Twinkling Of An Eye
Gone Too Soon
Shiny And Sparkly
And Splendidly Bright
Here One Day
Gone One Night
Like The Loss Of Sunlight
On A Cloudy Afternoon
Gone Too Soon
Like A Castle
Built Upon A Sandy Beach
Gone Too Soon
Like A Perfect Flower
That Is Just Beyond Your Reach
Gone Too Soon
Born To Amuse, To Inspire, To Delight
Here One Day
Gone One Night
Like A Sunset
Dying With The Rising Of The Moon
Gone Too Soon
Gone Too Soon
The moral immune system of this country has been weakened and attacked, and the AIDS virus is the perfect metaphor for it. The malignant neglect of the last twelve years has led to breakdown of our country's immune system, environmentally, culturally, politically, spiritually and physically.Barbara Streisand
