ST-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QC--Saint Jean Garrison is the congregation for Albert Harper, the Baptist civilian chaplain for the Canadian Forces base. When he is not making the 300 km trek to his family every weekend, he is enjoying being the "Padre," or "father" for his troops who are convinced that he has a direct line with God.

Like many of his colleagues, he takes his responsibilities as seriously as he promised at his swearing-in ceremony to be a loyal minister and a support to all who need help. "I can have an impact on the lives of recruits," he says.

Conservative Anglicans seek a new North American province

WHEATON, IL--North America's orthodox Anglicans are negotiating the details of a prospective new province to serve 100,000 parishioners in Canada and the United States.

"We are breaking new ground," says Bishop Don Harvey, moderator of the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC), one of 10 groups that met last month in Illinois to unveil and approve a draft constitution for the new Anglican Church in North America.
