National leaders need time to reflect |
|
Over recent weeks, I have been struck by the observation that our government leaders here in Ireland, seem never to have a break from business or the media focus. Our Taoiseach seems to go for days without a break, without a rest from being in public eye, or speaking at a conference or in discussions at the cabinet table or with business leaders or trade unions. The same seems to be for government ministers. Although commendable for there service to the nation, I have been wondering at the wisdom of this approach, particularly with recent decisions to control the nations budget. For us as Christians this should really spur us to pray for our government inline with the injunction of St.Paul to pray for those in authority, and in the midst of the challenges seek to encourage them, even if we do not agree with their politics.
