We Must Have Better Christians
(Classic Sermons/A W Tozer)

Author : A W Tozer

Excerpted from Of God and Men

T

o talk of "better" Christians is to use language foreign to many persons. To them all Christians are alike; all have been justified and forgiven and are the children of God, so to make comparisons between them is to suggest division and bigotry and any number of horrible things.

How To Study The Bible
(Classic Sermons/Samuel Logan Brengle)

Author : Samuel Logan Brengle
T

he other day I received a letter from a young Officer asking for a few suggestions as to how to read and study the Bible. Here they are:

I. Read and study it as two young lovers read and study each other's letters. As soon as the mail brings a letter from his sweetheart, the young man grabs it and without waiting to see if there is not another letter for him, runs off to a corner and reads and laughs and rejoices over it and almost devours it. If he is a particularly desperate and demonstrative lover -- (the Lord make us desperate and demonstrative lovers of our Lord Jesus Christ!) -- he will probably kiss it and carry it next to his heart till the next one comes.

I Can Never
(Short Stories/Guest Articles)

n one of the discussion boards I frequent, we discussed in great detail one day what would happen to the person who dared to ever hurt one of our children or grandchildren. We held back no contempt for such a one who would commit a heinous crime against a family member, nor did we hold back the description of exactly what we?d do to such a one. And then the unthinkable happened once again to our nation?in a matter of two weeks, three killers entered different schools in our country and innocent people died?a principal killed by a sick young man, a young girl killed by her abuser just as her rescuers broke through the door, and ten young girls tied together so they couldn?t run away from a deranged man who killed five of them and left the other five critically wounded. America and the rest of the world watched in horror and revulsion.

An Empty Jar of Mayonnaise and 2 Cups of Coffee

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

Believe
(Classic Sermons/D L Moody)

Author : D L Moody

ave faith in God! Take Him at His word! Believe what He says! Believe the record God has given of His Son! I can imagine some of you saying, "I want to, but I have not got the right kind of faith." What kind of faith do you want? Now, the idea that you want a different kind of faith is all wrong. Use the faith you have got; just believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Not only that, you can't give any reason for not believing. If a man told me he couldn't believe me, I should have a right to ask him why he couldn't believe me. I should have a right to ask him if I had ever broken my word with him; and if I had not broken my word with him, he ought to believe me. I would like to ask you, has God ever broken His word? Never. My friends, He will keep His word. God condemns the world because they believe not on Him; that is the root of all evil. A man who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ won't murder, and lie, and do all these awful things. Don't get caught up by that terrible delusion that unbelief is a misfortune. Unbelief is not a misfortune, but is the sin of the world. Christ found it on all sides of the world. When He first got up from the grave, He found that His disciples doubted. He had reason to cry out against unbelief.

Women Are Funny Creatures
(Short Stories/Guest Articles)

Author : Dr. Sharon Schuetz
Y

es, women are funny creatures. A woman will hide her feelings, mulling them over until she thinks herself into worry. She worries about her problems; she worries about her family, she worries about her church, her neighbors, and her job. Left unchecked, her worry turns into depression. She masks her pain, deceiving herself and everyone else, until she is ready to explode at the slightest provocation.
